The £300m Centre for Advanced Knowledge Engineering (CAKE) project in Downham Market will be Europe’s first bespoke campus for big data and cyber security institutions.

The UK Government has identified big data and cyber security as key sectors driving UK economic growth in the 21st century.

The campus, close to Cambridge and at the heart of Silicon Fen and the Golden Triangle, is designed around an academic hub—the Institute of Data Science—to facilitate interaction between learning, research and business and provide the UK with the required facilities to attain world leadership in knowledge engineering.

Aventa has secured two sites totalling 90 acres. The proposed massing includes 15 commercial offices, accelerator buildings, a 140-bed hotel, a 200-bed student halls of residence, conference centre, community centre, restaurants and an RAF interactive museum.
